Black Alder (Alnus Glutinosa), a soft, even-toned hardwood that resists rot when kept wet or fully dry — historically the timber of choice for structural piling in waterlogged ground, and prized today for its warm colour and workability. Kharkiv-region Alder is sawn to a smooth, consistent finish that takes stain evenly.
